Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt able to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can now express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the film, remarking that he cannot recall "one day without joy".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a different essay, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A court order put a embargo on the investigation to limit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a public database listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
