Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
