British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge follows the global fight fans had expressed its support for the star in the following the devastating accident.
